Nothing showy about this flower. But surprisingly attractive to bees and butterflies. This underated plants is tall with small, brown to maroon flowers. 

 

  • Height- 30-48”

  • Moisture: Very wet to moist
  • Sun: Full sun to part shade
  • Bloom time: June
  • Direct sowing: Best sown in fall. Seeds have some dormancy and require at least 60 days of cold-moist temperatures before they will germinate. 
  • Growing transplants: Sow seeds (before January 15th) and place outside over winter or put in a refridgerator for 60 days. Seeds will germinate when exposed to moderate temperatures (60-70 degrees).
